Classes
In class, we will begin with a 15 minute warm up/stretching session. Followed normally by kick practice where students will pair up with partners or stay in a group to practice all of their kicks, either kicking pads or the space in front of themselves. Practicing kicks without a pad is actually more beneficial to the students technique. This will teach more self control with each kick and assist in the form of the technique. Students will then move on to one-step/three-step with a partner. This exercise will help the student get used to an opponent/partner punching towards them. This exercise is no contact. We will NOT punch or kick our partners, the only contact we will create is in the blocks and in any grabbing techniques. Following one-step/three-step, the students will move on to forms where they will practice all of the forms they know, any previous forms from lower ranks AND any current forms they are perfecting. After forms, the students will have a seat along the wall and will be called out by rank to spar the trained high rank. You can read more information about Free Fighting later on.
Forms
Forms, also known as Katas, are detailed choreographed patterns of movements practiced either solo or in groups. There will be one new form at each rank students will be required to learn. This will assist in learning how to move with your techniques along with teaching foot positioning, hand positioning, and assist in memorization skills.

Promotion Testing
Students will not ask or question when their next promotion test will be held. When the Master or Instructor sees that there is a decent amount of students ready for a promotion test, a date will be announced and students can then sign up for the test. Normally test dates are declared way ahead of time to push any students who are not ready to train harder in attempt to prepare themselves for the test. There are normally 2-4 promotion tests held in a calendar year depending on number of students and any camps or events scheduled.

Once a student has reached 1st Cup Red Belt, it is required that the student receives 1 full calendar year of training and assist in instructing before testing for 1st Dan Black Belt. From there on, the student must receive 2 full calendar years of training and assist in instructing before testing for 2nd Dan Black Belt, 3 full calendar years of training and assist in instructing before testing for 3rd Dan Black Belt, and so on.

Free Fighting
Free Fighting, or sparring, is allowed once our students reach 7th Gup Yellow Belt. We want our students to first learn the techniques and become somewhat comfortable prior to sparring to help prevent any accidents or injuries. Our sparring is no contact. We make NO contact while free fighting, our purpose is not to harm our partner in class but to learn how to react when being attacked. We will only make contact when blocking our partner's techniques. Free Fighting will provide a more real life situation to teach how to block, counter, react, and move with your techniques and with your opponent/partner's techniques. After the students have become comfortable sparring and have earned high rank belts, they will begin sparring with multiple attackers. We do not teach how to completely annihilate the opponent, but more self defense techniques. How to block, counter, knock out, and flee. We focus on the safety of the students and their ability to self defend.
